He's No Paul - That's For Sure!

The last time we heard from Marc here at Sequential Crush was way back in December. You met his "twin," Paul a couple of weeks ago, but it has been far too long since we have had our romantic hopes and dreams crushed, wouldn't you say so? To remedy that, let's take a trip down memory lane to Marc's fourth appearance in Young Love.

Young Love #93
(March 1972)

Is it just me, or has Marc lightened up a little? He isn't being nearly as offensive as usual. Heck -- it even seems like he cares a little bit! Kind of refreshing!!!

  1. Two things I love about the Marc page: First, the girl that writes in about the boyfriend that suggest wine will "blow her mind." I just love that. What an innocent time. Secondly, what's up with Marc telling the other writer to dump her boyfriend because he acts dumb sometimes. Dude! How about a little guy solidarity here! Jeez, if a girlfriend gave me walking papers for "acting dumb" why, my dating history would be a sad, brutal story of sudden endings! Is there a couple in the history of the world where the girl doesn't think herself in the catbird seat in the brains department? Lord, I hope it's not just me.

  2. I hate to say it, but it seems that Marc actually has some solid advice in this installment. Couched in chauvinism, perhaps, but I still prefer him to that mealy-mouthed "twin" of his.

  3. Mykal: I love the mind blowing wine part as well!!! As far as the "dumb" boyfriend goes -- sounds like the young lady was just afraid of what others had to say about her boyfriend!

Jared: You are right about the advice in this one. It really isn't that bad, for Marc at least!

  4. I can't help but wonder if that bit about the wine was edited by DC; 1972 wasn't that innocent a time by any means.

Yes, it does seem like Marc's giving solid advice for a change rather than reflexively taking "the man's side" as usual.

  5. Samantha was dating Forrest Gump!

  6. Pat: It does seem as if another substance could easily be substituted for wine that is a bit more mind blowing. :)

Joseph D.: Sweet and a bit dumb (a la Forrest) is much better than sometimes sweet and sometimes mean. That's for sure!
